Frequently Asked Questions
Are your services safe for kids and pets?
1
Yes. I am a licensed applicator, which means that I pass a test every 5 years through the state of Wisconsin. I also follow all product label directions and regulations when completing your lawn’s unique treatment program. I’ll let you know when it’s safe to run, jump, and play on your lawn.
I take the safety of your family and pets seriously, using the same products on your yard that I use on my own.
How long do I need to stay off my lawn after a treatment?
2
Because each lawn gets its own unique treatment program, the time that you should stay off your lawn varies. After completing your lawn’s treatment, I will leave a slip of paper that explains what I applied and how long you should stay off the lawn.
Generally, you’ll need to stay off the lawn for about a day. If you need an area to remain untouched so that your pets can go outside, just let me know.
When should I expect you to come?
3
I will contact you 1 to 3 days before I plan to complete your lawn treatment so that we can talk about any specific scheduling needs.
Typically, I plan four lawn treatments per year from April to October.
Will all of my weeds be gone after the first treatment?
4
Most lawns take 1 to 3 applications to reach a good baseline, where there are very few weeds remaining. After that, I’ll focus on maintenance. Weather and weed type are factors that could make some yards weed-free faster than others.
How does what you offer compare to the BIG companies?
5
I am the owner and operator of Joe’s Lawns and its only employee—if you don’t count my wife who manages this website ;). I take the health of your lawn seriously, specializing my time and expertise in fertilizing, weed control, and mosquito and tick control so that I can do the absolute best for you.
Unfortunately, big lawn companies are often operating on a “churn and burn” business model that focuses more on acquiring new customers than on retaining existing customers. In fact, 99% of the customers that started out with me in 2019 are still here, so I like to think I’m doing something right!
No. I specialize in fertilizing, weed control, and mosquito and tick control. If you are looking for a mowing service, give me a call or text at 608-228-4720 and I will share recommendations with you!
